Fire destroys Commerce City home

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. — Despite the dramatic images captured of this house fire at 10161 Joplin St. in Commerce City, no deaths or major injuries were reported.

Fire crews responded to the house fire shortly after midnight.

Authorities say the homeowner was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries after rushing back into the house to rescue a dog.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, including whether it may have been caused by lightning.
