Police search for driver in fatal hit-and-run
Denver - Police are asking for the public’s help to find a hit and run driver accused of killing a 59-year-old man crossing the street on Friday.
The wreck happened shortly after 9pm near the intersection of 17th and Sheridan in Denver. Witnesses told police the driver likely continued driving northbound on Sheridan leaving Ronnie Mumford injured in the street.
“Who is that heartless, to just run over an old man with a cane and keep going?” asked Gina Mumford, the victim’s daughter during an interview with KDVR on Sunday.
Over the weekend investigators with Denver Police confirmed there is no specific description of the vehicle involved but they do believe it will have front end damage.
“If you have a car in your neighborhood that is consistent with striking someone with the windshield broken, blood on the car, we want to hear from you,” said Sonny Jackson, a spokesperson for the Denver Police Department.
Anyone who has information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at: 720-913-7867. There is a $2,000 reward leading to the arrest and charging of the responsible party.
