13,000 attend President Barack Obama’s rally at CSU in Ft. Collins

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — President Obama spoke to a crowd of 13,000 at CSU in Fort Collins Tuesday.

He challenged students to register more voters than their rivals at CU, and then he got right to the issues that affect young adults.

He spoke about managing student loans, accessing affordable health care and the prospects of finding a job.

“Will this country make it easier for future generations to afford a degree, and pay off student loans? Will we build more good schools and hire good teachers so more kids are prepared to attend colleges like Colorado State?” the President asked. 

“These decisions that we make as a country on the economy and jobs, and taxes, and education, and energy, and war, and climate change, and the supreme court,  these are all decisions that will affect you directly in very personal ways,” he said. 

The rally is part of a tour of college campuses across the country.  The President is hoping to appeal to the younger voters in key battleground states like Colorado.  He spoke earlier in the day at Iowa State University in Ames. He’ll return to do it again at the University of Colorado in Boulder on Sunday.

Students at CSU say he hit on the issues.  “To come out of college, I mean I feel like I might have a job and I might not,” said David Hanson.  Many students said it was a meaningful day.  “I’m so excited,” said Erin Cross.  But one undecided voter we spoke to left the rally, still undecided.
