Police motorcycle crashes in pursuit of Lakewood bank robber

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — A 30-minute chase ended with a police officer crashing a motorcycle and a suspected bank robber “throwing money everywhere.”

Jefferson County police said the suspect, 45-year-old William Jennings, fled in a red SUV after robbing a First Bank at 7590 West Colfax Avenue in Lakewood. Police pursued Jennings until his vehicle crashed in a yard near Russell Court and Archer Avenue.

Over Lakewood police dispatch there were reports that Jennings was “throwing money everywhere” before police took him into custody. Jennings was wanted for at least two other bank robberies in and around Denver.

One officer involved in the pursuit suffered injuries when he crashed his motorcycle at Colfax Avenue and Denver West Boulevard. Police said the officer’s injuries were not serious.
