SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. — A Silverthorne woman believes two of her family members slashed the tires to one of her cars and attempted to break in to her house. Thankfully, her quick thinking and a metal pipe were enough to keep her family safe.
The Summit Daily News is reporting the woman stuck the bar in front of her door on Aug. 6, which was being shoved so hard that the pipe bent. The woman was at home with her two young children when the attempted break-in began at approximately 12:30 a.m.
Though she was too afraid to look out of the window, the woman told police that she believed it was her cousin and her cousin’s husband who were attempting to gain entrance. She said the two have been trying to take her children away from her. The report the newspaper referenced did not cite a reason for the disagreement between the two parties.
While the would-be burglars were not able to break into the woman’s home, they were successful in slashing the tires on her SUV. According to the newspaper, the police report in the case indicates the investigation is active, and that officers are confident arrests are imminent.
