Coffman, Coors release new TV ads
CHAROTTE, N.C. — Republican Congressman Mike Coffman released his first television ad of the campaign season Tuesday, while GOP hopeful Joe Coors, looking to show that he’s competitive in his own bid for Congress, hit the air with his third spot of the year.
Coffman, who is facing a tougher reelection bid in the re-drawn 6th Congressional District, released an ad focusing on his own military service.
“When I grew up here, Aurora was a military town-middle class families, the backbone of America,” Coffman says in the ad. “We learned three lessons: work hard, keep your family close and always love your country.”
Coffman is an Aurora native, but has never represented the Democrat-leaning city, which had been part of the 7th C.D. until redistricting this year.
“Mike Coffman volunteered for the Marine Corps; fought in the first Gulf War; then he left his statewide position in government to volunteer for Iraq again,” a narrator says as the ad continues. “Service above self.”
Coffman, who barely had to run ads in his first two elections when the the 6th was a reliable GOP seat, has a large fundraising advantage over his Democratic challenger, state Rep. Joe Miklosi.
Joe Coors, who’s challenging Democratic Congressman Ed Perlmutter for his 7th C.D. seat, released his third ad of the cycle that focuses on his support for an all-of-the-above energy policy.
Coors has highlighted his support for the Keystone XL pipeline, and Perlmutter’s hesitancy on the issue; but, in this ad, he’s driving a hybrid vehicle.
