DENVER — It’s been two weeks and a serial groper is still on the loose. After striking for a fourth time one block east of a popular Denver park, police have issued a reward for the suspect’s capture.
Denver police said the most recent incident happened Tuesday at approximately 12:20 a.m. A woman reported she was walking toward Washington Park on Kentucky Avenue between Gilpin Street and Franklin Street when a male approached her from behind and fondled her.
According to the police report, the suspect is a Hispanic man, about 6 feet tall and heavy set. He’s bald and between 20 and 30 years old, and has been seen wearing a baggy white t-shirt, baggy shorts and a long belt.
In all four cases, the suspect has fled the scene in a black Nissan Altima or Maxima with tinted windows, a loud muffler, shiny rims and orange tape covering the license plate.
That the suspect has covered his license plate is evidence to Denver Police Det. John White that he “knows what he’s doing.”
“These incidents really cause us concern because now that he has had some level of success, he’s going to continue to do this,” White said.
The latest victim said the suspect was standing at the mouth of an alley before he approached her from behind. That report is similar to the four previous groping reports from women in the Cheesman Park and Highland neighborhoods.
The first two women were both groped on Aug. 21 near 5th Avenue and High Street. The third woman was groped on Aug. 28 near West 37th Avenue and Newton Street.
