Denver police warn women about growing number of ‘groping’ attacks
DENVER — Police are warning women to be on the lookout for the serial groper whose assaulted four different in women in just the past three weeks.
The most recent attack happened on September 4 across from Washington Park.
Detective John White told Colorado’s Own Channel 2 the victim was walking on E. Kentucky Ave. near S. Franklin St. when a man came from behind her and started fondling her.
It’s the fourth “groping” in Denver and White said the cases are connected, “(the suspect) has experienced success 4 times, 4 different locations, 4 different women.”
Denver police are concerned the suspect is growing more brazen. “What we don’t want to see happen is his behavior escalate to the point where these become more severe sexual assault type of incidents,” White said.
The first assault happened on August 21 at E. 5th Ave. and High St.
A few minutes later, a second woman was assaulted a block away at E. 4th Ave. and High.
On August 28, the same suspect groped a third woman in the area of E. 37th Ave. and Newton St.
Then on September 4, he found a fourth victim on Kentucky between Franklin and Gilpin streets.
Washington Park runner, Michele Padilla told us, “You don’t expect something like that to happen in Wash Park because it’s such a beautiful area and it is so populated, it just shows you aren’t really safe anywhere.”
Denver Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the suspect. He is described as a Hispanic man between 20 and 30 years old, He may be driving a black Nissan Sentra of Ultima.
