DENVER — After learning of a fifth attack this week, Denver police have released a sketch of a serial groper who has been fondling women in Denver for over two weeks.

The date of the latest reported groping was released Friday, along with a sketch of the suspect. Though it was reported to police later, the fifth attack actually took place before the fourth groping report.

This newly-reporting fondling took place at approximately 10:15 a.m. near the intersection of West 31st Avenue and Tejon Street in the Highland neighborhood. The woman who reported the incident told police she was pushing a stroller with two small children inside when she reached the 2200 block of West 31st Avenue.

At that point, the woman told police a man fondled her from behind and then fled on foot through the alleyway between Vallejo and Wyandot streets.

One of the four previously-reported groping incidents took place later on Sept. 4 at approximately 12:20 p.m. at the intersection of East Kentucky Avenue and South Franklin Street near Washington Park.

The released sketch, which can be seen on this page, shows a depiction of the suspect, who police say is a Hispanic man, about 6 feet tall and heavy set. He’s bald and between 20 and 30 years old, and has been seen wearing a baggy white t-shirt, baggy shorts and a long belt.

The suspect has been seen fleeing several of the groping incidents in a black Nissan Altima or Maxima with tinted windows, a loud muffler, shiny rims and orange tape covering the license plate.

That the suspect has covered his license plate is evidence to Denver Police Det. John White that he “knows what he’s doing.”

“These incidents really cause us concern because now that he has had some level of success, he’s going to continue to do this,” White said.

The latest victim said the suspect was standing at the mouth of an alley before he approached her from behind. That report is similar to the four previous groping reports from women in the Cheesman Park, the Highland and the Washington Park neighborhoods.

The first two women were both groped on Aug. 21  near 5th Avenue and High Street. The third woman was groped on Aug. 28 near West 37th Avenue and Newton Street.
