LITTLETON, Colo. — The new iPhone 5 hit stores around the world today, with millions camping out in lines outside Apple stores from Littleton to London to Sydney.

Hundreds lined up outside the Apple store in Littleton’s Aspen Grove shopping mall hovering in tents and sleeping bags, excited to be among the first to buy the new phone, which features the Apple designed A-6 chip for lightning fast speed and a 4-inch retina display screen.

It is also the thinnest iPhone yet.  Jason Davis was the first in line, setting up his blow up couch and cooler on Wednesday.  He says spending days on the sidewalk is well worth it, “I’m really looking forward to what this phone can do,  the speed, camera and resolution are great.”

Tech expert Charles Tendell offers some advice for those feeling frustrated about which smart phone to invest in amid the hype and excitement over the iPhone launch.

The rule of thumb is to carefully consider whether you need all of the bells and whistles a phone has to offer.

Tendell says, “If you just want to be able to Google or Facebook or do all those other things get a slightly older model instead of the brand new one.”

Experts say consumers will ultimately benefit from the big splash the iPhone is making this week as competitors scramble to offer deals on other devices and data plans to grab their attention.

The iPhone  is expected to be the biggest selling phone of all time.
