LITTLETON, Colo. – A bear was spotting hanging out in a tree in the Ken Caryl neighborhood Saturday afternoon.

The bear was spotted in a tree on W. Ken Caryl Avenue in the area east of Wadsworth Blvd. and Pierce Street at approximately 11:15 a.m., according to Jefferson County police scanners.

Officials from Colorado Parks and Wildlife were called to the scene to monitor the bear because it was so close to the neighborhood. Officials tranquilized and relocated the bear, who said it is a 10-year-old female.

It is unknown how long the bear was in the area. FOX 31 producer Chris Falin said kids were allowed to come up and pet the bear after it was removed from the tree.
