Fire damages Potter’s House Church in Denver

DENVER — Fire damaged the big Potter’s House Church of Denver Wednesday afternoon and the high winds made extinguishing the flames a bigger challenge for firefighters.

The church is at 9495 E. Florida Ave. Smoke was seen coming from the roof.

More than 40 staff members were there at the time. They all made it out of the building okay. Wednesday night services at the church were cancelled.

The Cunningham Fire Department responded to the scene with back up from the Aurora Fire Department.

Winds may have fanned some hot spots which required firefighters to return a second time. Staff members also left the building a second time.

Damage was described as worth several thousand dollars. The fire was isolated to an area of the church that isn’t used often.

The cause was not released.
