DENVER — Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is heading back to Colorado next week, FOX31 Denver has confirmed.

Romney is set to hold a campaign event in Golden on Tuesday, Oct. 23, exactly two weeks before Election Day.

According to a flier mailed to metro area supporters last week, Romney may appear with running-mate Paul Ryan.

Ryan is scheduled to make campaign stops in Colorado Springs and Grand Junction on Monday as Romney campaigns in Florida, FOX31 Denver has also confirmed.

The time and venue for all these events, which will cover all three media markets in the state, have yet to be announced.

The campaign may also be sending Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who’s only done a couple of campaign events for Romney since his own primary bid for the GOP nomination, to do a Colorado event this Sunday.

A Gallup seven-day tracking poll Thursday showed Romney stretching his overall national lead to 52-45 over President Barack Obama, although those numbers barely account for any potential movement following Tuesday night’s second presidential debate.

Recent polls of Colorado voters show a statistical tie here, with surveys showing both Romney and Obama leading in the last week, but neither outside a poll’s margin of error.

Obama campaign officials tell FOX31 Denver that the president is likely to return to Colorado within the next seven to 10 days as well, although no official dates have been confirmed.

Vice President Joe Biden rallied about 1,000 supporters in Greeley Wednesday.
