Snow falls in Denver: High country could get 20 inches this weekend
DENVER — A snowy and cold weekend is ahead across many parts of Colorado.
The heaviest snow will hit the higher elevations of the central and southern mountains. Some locations could see 20 inches of snow.
Winter Storm Warnings and Advisories are posted for white-out conditions along I-70 and most mountain passes until late Saturday.
Saturday starts with some sunshine in Denver followed by increasing clouds, gusty winds and much colder temperatures.
Chief Meteorologist Dave Fraser says rain showers will develop during the late afternoon and change to snow by Saturday evening.
Snow showers will linger into early Sunday before slowly ending.
Accumulation in metro Denver looks light with about 1″ in most places. The Foothills could see a little more and folks who live closer to the Wyoming border in northeastern Colorado could see 3″.
The story Sunday will be the cold with temperatures struggling to reach 32 degrees.
Milder days return for most of next week.
