COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Though one tenant said it was nothing but a joke, another tenant at a Colorado Springs apartment complex was doing anything but laughing after receiving the following note from the facility’s landlord.
“If you voted Democrat on Nov. 6, please notify me ASAP so I can raise your rent first to help pay for what you asked for,” a note sent by John Obringer to his tenants at the Casa Adobe Apartments reads, according to KRDO.
In the letter, Obringer blames Obama for a “continued assault on small business,” and claims his reelection was due to “the stupidity of the U.S. electorate.”
Obringer also claims the President’s financial policies have “resulted in increased taxes, regulations and mandates” that are forcing Obringer to make pay cuts, reduce hours and lay off employees.
An anonymous tenant went so far as to tell KRDO that Obringer threatened to evict her for her political beliefs. Another anonymous tenant questioned the validity of that story, saying Obringer has a reputation as a jokester, and that this note was just an extension of that personality.
“It’s just John,” the second tenant said. “He’s kind of a quirky landlord.”
Obringer has not responded to KRDO’s requests for comment.
