Police investigate shooting that killed juvenile in southwest Denver

DENVER – Police are investigating a shooting that killed a young male in southwest Denver early Saturday.

Raquel Lopez with the Denver Police Department said officers responded to the 5200 Block of West Bates Ave. just before 4 a.m. after reports of a shooting in the area.

When police arrived at the area near Sheridan and Bates, they found a juvenile male who appeared to be suffering from gunshot wounds.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving, police said.

The name and age of the victim have not been released.

Officers believe a white vehicle may have been involved in the shooting, and the car was last seen fleeing the area before police arrived.
