DENVER — Portions of I-270 and I-70 were closed Friday afternoon after a truck driving eastbound on I-70 damaged a flyover bridge on I-270.

According to Colorado Department of Transportation spokesperson Mindy Crane, the truck was hauling a track hoe that came into contact with and damaged the bridge.

Crane said there are no injuries to report despite the fact that portions of the bridge fell onto I-70.

As crews work to clean up the scene and inspect the damaged bridge, Crane said the flyover ramp will be closed for a number of hours. There will also be various lane closures on I-70.

Motorists are being detoured to Quebec Street as the work commences, and alternate routes are strongly advised for the remainder of the Friday commute.
