Tank explosion kills worker near Craig
CRAIG, Colo. — A tank explosion in northwestern Colorado Thursday killed one man.
The Craig Daily Press reports the industrial accident happened at about 10:34 a.m. at an oil rig site seven miles north of Craig in Moffat County.
Moffat County Sheriff’s Office investigator Jeremy Ashton told the paper a tank exploded which contained water left over from the fracking process.
Investigators believe the valves were frozen, and the worker was trying to thaw them with a propane heater when the explosion happened.
The official cause of the accident has not been released.
Axia Energy of Denver maintains the oil rig where the accident happened.
