Taft High School shooting in California injures at least two

TAFT, Calif. — At least two people were shot at Taft Union High School in Kern County, Calif. on Thursday morning and the suspected shooter has been taken into custody, according to reports.

23ABC News is reporting that the shooting took place at approximately 9 a.m. and that the suspect was taken into custody about 20 minutes after it began.

The TV station said it received reports of students and teacher hiding in closets inside the school, which was being evacuated and searched when those reports were received.

A Kern County sheriff’s spokesman confirmed he was heading to the scene in response to a shooting, but did not have additional details.
