DENVER — A chase in Denver ended in a crash involving a police car right next to busy Colorado Blvd. and a search for the suspect was underway Friday afternoon.

The patrol car and another vehicle crashed and ended up in the park at S. Colorado Blvd. and Cherry Creek Dr. S.

That vehicle was not the suspect vehicle. A mother and her child were inside. Even though the crash looks serious, everyone got out of it without any serious injuries.

The suspect abandoned the vehicle he was driving in parking lot near Colorado Blvd. and Alameda. A search ensued.

Police found him and arrested him a couple of hours later in the area of 6th Ave. and Broadway.

Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson identified the suspect as Craig Dixon, who was wanted on warrants for violent crime in Arapahoe County.

Glendale police told FOX31 Denver they believed the chase had something to do with a kidnapping case. However, they could not confirm that information.

They also said they did not believe a kidnap victim was in the suspect vehicle at the time of the crash.

Denver police said the chase began near Congress Park which is at E. 8th Ave. and Josephine St.
