SWAT team called to west Denver neighborhood

DENVER — A SWAT team was called to a west Denver home after a carjacking Friday afternoon.

Denver police surrounded a house in the 400 block of S. Irving St. Police say the suspect took them on a chase that ended in the neighborhood.

Officers didn’t evacuate anyone in the area, but they advised neighbors to stay inside.

Police blocked off a 3-block area around the house.

There was an intense police presence as the standoff continued into Friday night.
