Sheriff’s deputy accused of sexual exploitation of a child
DENVER — A Douglas County Sheriff’s deputy was arrested Friday for alleged sexual exploitation of a child, the sheriff’s office announced Saturday.
The deputy, whose name was not released, has been placed on unpaid administrative leave pending an internal affairs investigation, the sheriff’s office said in a media release. The alleged incident involved “inappropriate text messages,” according to the release.
Officials noted that the alleged crime occurred while the deputy was off-duty and that the individual’s duty assignment did not involve schools.
“This is a very complex case,” the release read. “It is anticipated to be lengthy and there may be additional arrests.”
