SUMMIT COUNTY, Colo. – An overdue inmate turned himself into Summit County police Tuesday after he failed to return to jail from his scheduled work release.

Police issued a warrant out for the arrest of 35-year-old Ramon Soto after he violated his work release conditions and traveled to Denver without permission on Monday.

According to Tracy LeClair with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office, “Soto called jail staff to tell them he would be late returning because his friend’s car broke down; however, when he failed to show up the following morning, a warrant was issued for his arrest.”

Police said Soto turned himself into the Summit County Jail at approximately 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Soto faces an escape charge and up to six months in jail.
