Police bust auto theft ring, seize dozens of stolen weapons
AURORA, Colo. — A large auto theft ring involving several people including known meth users has been busted in east metro Denver law enforcement authorities announced Friday.
“This ring has been found to be involved in multiple crimes throughout Colorado,” says a statement on the Aurora Police Department Facebook page.
“Numerous illegal items were located including drugs and over 30 firearms, many of which were reported stolen. It is believed that many of the guns are stolen but not reported as such due to victims not having serial numbers.”
The East Metro Auto Theft Team (EMATT) carried out a search warrant at 5545 Pecos St. in Adams County Monday following an investigation that lasted several months.
Robert Muniz was arrested. The statement says more arrests are expected.
“Due to the extensive amount of suspected criminal activity associated with this case EMATT believes that there are additional victims and witnesses out there.”
