Study: Mediterranean diet lowers risk of heart attack
Low-fat or Mediterranean — which diet is better for your heart?
Researchers in Spain tracked people on each diet for five years. They found the Mediterranean diet — especially one with a lot of extra-virgin olive oil is healthier.
That group’s risk of having a heart attack, stroke or dying of heart disease was 30 percent lower than the group that ate a low-fat diet.
The New England Journal of Medicine has the study online Monday.
