COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A man answering a knock at his front door was met with quite the surprise Tuesday morning.

According to police, it all began when Sean Knapp knocked on his neighbor Kenneth Sipes’ door at the Westwind Apartments in Colorado Springs around 7 a.m. Police say Knapp swung a samurai sword at Sipes’ face when he answered the door.

Sipes was able to grab the blade with two open hands during a subsequent swipe, and wrestled the blade away from Knapp. Both were bleeding heavily when police arrived.

Officers arrested arrested Knapp, who had retreated to his own apartment, and transported both parties to a nearby hospital.

Both were in stable condition following surgery.
