Puppy shot in leg with crossbow

LA PLATA COUNTY, Colo. — A puppy is recovering in southwestern Colorado after he was found with an arrow sticking out of his hind leg.

Bow, the 3-month-old Jack Russell/Shepherd mix puppy had a crossbow bolt in him when he was found in Shiprock, NM.

In fact, he’s doing so well you wouldn’t even know what happened to him without seeing the pictures.

Bow was taken to the Farmington, New Mexico Animal Shelter where veterinarians surgically removed the arrow. He was put into a foster home for rehabilitation.

Bow was then transferred to the La Plata County Humane Society in Durango, Colo. because of the overwhelming number of animals they have to care for at the Farmington shelter.

“Once I heard about Bow I knew it’d be an easy adoption and we also want to help out the Farmington Shelter as much as we can since they’re always full,” says Chris Nelson, the Director of Animal Services at LPCHS.

The person who shot the puppy has not been found.
