Interstate 70 reopened following series of accidents
DENVER — A series of major accidents was wreaking havoc along Interstate 70 Sunday morning, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office reported.
As of 3:30 p.m., I-70 was reopened in both directions.
Earlier in the day, numerous vehicles were involved in several crashes near Lookout Mountain, police said. At one point, a fire truck was hit by another vehicle, at least one car was on fire and at least one of the injured was a pregnant woman. Four people were transported to the hospital, but their injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.
Officials had just cleared the roadway after that spate of accidents around noon when new accidents and adverse weather forced them to close I-70 between Airpark Road and Burlington.
