DENVER — Luck was definitely with the racers of Runnin’ of the Green on Sunday. Instead of the wind-driven snow that pelted the metro area on Saturday, the St. Patrick’s Day-themed joggers were greeted with a sharply cold but bracingly clear March morning — perfect weather for a run and then, as tradition dictates, a pint of stout.

Nearly 5,000 runners participated in the seven-kilometer “Irish marathon”, which wound through downtown before ending in an afternoon block party. The event, a benefit for Volunteers of America, celebrates its 25th anniversary this year.
