ARVADA, Colo. — The Colorado State Patrol is investigating an accident that killed a 54-year-old woman as she backed out of her home garage Wednesday afternoon.

Karen Sanders’ Dodge was backing out of the right side garage space of a two-car garage separated by framing.

Sanders was trapped between the driver side door of the Dodge and the framing between the two garage doors,” said Trooper Nate Reid of the Colorado State Patrol. “She was found pinned between the frame of the garage and the door to her truck.”

It’s unclear why the vehicle was in reverse while she was outside of it.

A family member found Karen Sanders and called police just before 2 p.m.

Police continue to investigate the accident.
