Student who brought gun to alternative school arrested, police say
DENVER — A student who attends the Denver Center for 21st Century Learning was arrested Tuesday after police said he or she brought a gun to school.
The gun was seized and no one was injured, said Denver Public Schools spokeswoman Kristy Armstrong.
No threats have been made to the school either, Armstrong said.
The school was put on lockdown for a time while police investigated but was back to normal operations around 1:30 p.m.
The school plans to send a letter home to parents reminding them guns cannot be brought to school.
The school is at Williams Street and 17th Avenue in the former Wyman Elementary School. According to the school’s website, it focuses on “underserved and hard-to-serve students from the Near North East.”
