Bullets, ammunition magazine found in Boulder 4th grade classroom
BOULDER, Colo. — Three bullets and an ammunition clip were discovered in a Boulder school on Tuesday. Though they were turned over to administrators before a commotion was caused, parents were unnerved at the email they received later in the day.
“Three bullets were found in the coatroom of one of our fourth-grad classrooms,” Boulder Community School of Integrated Studies principal Phil Katsampes wrote in that email. “Boulder Police and BVSD Security quickly responded to our report.
“The bullets have been removed and the classroom, along with its contents, was thoroughly searched to make sure there is nothing more of concern in that room.”
Katsampes went on to say the discovery of the bullets, which was initially made by several students, “appears to be an isolated incident and we have no reason to believe that students, staff or parents are in any danger at this time.”
He also said the school will see an increased amount of security and police presence through the remainder of this week as a precaution.
