Police release video of suspect hit-and-run SUV that killed 2 boys
DENVER — Denver police released surveillance video of a vehicle they believe may have hit and killed two young boys and left their mother seriously injured.
The hit-and-run happened Friday night. Investigators issued a request for anyone with information to help them find the driver.
One boy, 8-year-old Zamay Khan, died at the scene. His brother, 6-year-old Azat Khan died a few minutes later at Children’s Hospital.
The children and their mother were hit at E. 14th Avenue and Yosemite Street around 8 p.m.
The woman was taken to Denver Health Medical Center for treatment. On Saturday, the woman was reported being in serious condition.
The group was not in a crosswalk but was crossing Yosemite “not mid-block, but just off the corner” when they were hit, Jackson said.
Police are analyzing video of the vehicle leaving scene, as well as leads on the potential suspect.
Police say Identifying features on the suspect vehicle include a moonroof or sunroof, a visor over the front windshield and running boards.
Police are not sure whether weather may have played a role in the crash. Heavy snow was falling in Denver at the time.
Despite that, “You hit someone and you left the scene, that’s the part that really bothers us,” police spokesman Sonny Jackson said.

have some front-end damage. The vehicle was last seen headed south on Yosemite.
A Medina Alert has been issued to cab companies, bus drivers and the general public to be on the lookout for the vehicle.
Jackson called the crash a “very tragic accident” but said police are hopeful someone may see the vehicle and report it to police.
“The community, they can really be extra eyes and ears for us in this situation,” Jackson said.
