DENVER — Two carjacking suspects were able to flee the scene after shooting their victim in the chest in East Denver Thursday morning, according to police.

The incident was reported around 4:15 a.m. near 2602 Jasmine Street. Police said the victim was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition after sustaining a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police also said the two suspects fled the scene in a green and gray Chevy Blazer that may have extensive front end damage. Police have described the suspects only as a male and female, and believe the Colorado license plate number on the Blazer is 082YJF.

While further details about the carjacking were unavailable, a quick scan of the crime scene from just outside the police perimeter showed a light-colored station wagon up on the curb with its right back seat door ajar.
