Small plane crashes at Eagle County Airport

EAGLE COUNTY, Colo. — A small plane crashed while trying to land at Eagle County Airport Friday afternoon. Both people on board were injured and taken to a hospital.

Witnesses say that a 1964 Piper Comanche aircraft appeared to come up short on its approach to the runway at about 3:00 p.m. It crashed 750 feet from the runway.

A press release says airport operations stopped for a short period of time while emergency personnel responded to the scene and helped the injured people. Operations have since resumed.

Conditions of the two people hurt were not released.

The aircraft that crashed is registered in California.
