DENVER — Police were still searching for clues after a 13-year-old boy was shot to death in a Montbello neighborhood on Friday night. No arrests in the case had been made in the case as of early Monday.
Police responding to a call of shots fired in the 4700 block of Enid Way found Reysean Abram suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest about 11:45 p.m. Friday, the Denver Police Department said. He was taken to a hospital but died of his wound. The incident is being treated as a homicide.
Police said they have no information to share regarding a suspect or motive. The victim’s family said he was at a neighborhood party earlier in the evening, but investigators have not confirmed whether there was any trouble there.
A Facebook memorial page was very active on Sunday, and a memorial gathering was scheduled for Tuesday at Del Mar Park, near 6th Avenue and Peoria Street in Aurora. The day would have been Abram’s 14th birthday.
Nearly 100 young people gathered at a park near Manual High School Sunday night. No one appeared to give a formal speech, but some youths carried candles or wore shirts memorializing Abram.
