Denver breaks heat record as sizzling September continues
DENVER — Denver broke a heat record Friday afternoon as our sizzling September continues.
The record high for Friday was 95 degrees set back in 1959. The official temperature recording at Denver International Airport showed 97 Friday afternoon.
For the weekend, highs will remain in the 90s with each afternoon coming within a degree or two of record levels.
The record in Denver on Saturday is 95 from 1933. The record high on Sunday is 94 set in 1959.
By Monday a cooler change finally arrives. A cold front will slide down the eastern plains of Colorado during the afternoon and knock temperatures back into the 80s.
That front will also generate some showers and thunderstorms.
