DA: 4 cited after hoard of 27 animals found in 800-square foot apartment
DENVER — Four people have been charged with animal cruelty after 27 animals were found in an 800-square foot apartment in Denver.
The animals were found in an apartment in on Virginia Avenue near Colorado Boulevard and Exposition Avenue.
Denver Animal Care & Control removed 22 dogs, one cat, two turtles and two hamsters from the apartment, said Lynn Kimbrough of the Denver District Attorney’s Office.
They also removed one dead puppy and three dead frogs, Kimbrough said.
Ken Rumery, 57, Linda Rumery, 50, Karla Rumery, 24, and and Ian Nelson, 24, were all served a summons for animal cruelty.
They are scheduled to appear in court on Nov. 1.
