ARVADA, Colo. — Police in Arvada have arrested a man they believe is responsible for a series of break-ins in the city over the summer.
Thomas Kimber, 35, was arrested Sept. 28 after someone spotted him trying to break into a car near W. 66th Avenue and Depew Street, said Arvada police spokeswoman Jill McGranahan.
Kimber took a bicycle and was spotted riding on 67th Avenue, she said. As officers closed in, Kimber abandoned the bike and started running through yards and over fences, McGranahan said.
Police finally caught up with Kimber at 66th and Lamar Street and arrested him.
A police headquarters Kimber admitted to 10 to 20 incidents of trespassing. He also told police that he traded items he took to support a drug habbit, McGranahan said.
He now faces several first-degree criminal trespass charges.
Earlier this summer, police warned about a series of break-ins in Arvada.
“We are confident that we have arrested at least one of the individuals responsible for the rash of break-ins in Arvada,” said Detective Mantych. “It is by our community members being vigilant and reporting suspicious behavior that we were able to arrest one of the perpetrators.”
