LAKEWOOD, Colo. — A series of downed trees, branches and power lines due to windy conditions across the Front Range led to a series of power outages Friday morning.
According to an Xcel Energy spokesperson, over 16,000 customers were affected at the height of the issues early Friday morning, but the number of customers without power had decreased to between 4,000 and 5,000 by 6:15 a.m.
The spokesperson did not give an estimated timetable for when power would be restored to all customers, but did indicate that Xcel had called in extra crews to work with the issues being caused by the high winds.
KWGN weather tracker Daryl Orr was exploring the Lakewood and Boulder neighborhoods, and found at least one downed tree near the intersection of West Green Mountain Drive and South Union Boulevard.
