Denver police live tweeting helicopter today
DENVER — Denver police offered the public a rare look at their police helicopter called Air One Wednesday afternoon.
The department tweeted photos of the helicopter including pre-flight checkups and several calls the helicopter was assigned to.
Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson said live tweeting the flight is an “opportunity for us to communicate to the public as we are flying over the metro area.”
The helicopter generally has a two person crew and flys both on a regular schedule and when situations call for it.
Jackson said the helicopter is sent to a wide range of calls from traffic incidents to following suspects.
“The helicopter is a force multiplier,” Jackson said. It’s used to give police a high vantage point they cannot get from the ground.
Jackson said police will likely live tweet flights in the future.
