At least 1 shot in Aurora, suspect not yet in custody

AURORA, Colo. — Aurora Police confirmed they were investigating a shooting that left at least one injured in northwest Aurora on Monday morning.
A potential person of interest was still at large as of 10 a.m., police reported. They emphasized that the person was not necessarily a suspect.
Emergency scanner traffic about the shooting first began taking place shortly after 3 a.m. Aurora Police began mentioning the shooting on Twitter shortly after 5 a.m.
Scanner traffic indicated that the reported victim in the shooting was a woman who had been shot in the stomach, but police were unable to confirm those reports as of 6:30 a.m. One victim later underwent surgery related to a serious gunshot wound, according to scanner traffic.
Police cleared the residence about 9:30 a.m. No one was found inside, but dogs were taken into custody.
The apartment complex where police were investigating is two blocks north of East Colfax Avenue and one block east of Dayton Street.
Residence is clear, no other victims or subjects found. Investigation continues, trying to verify original victim’s story.
