DENVER — Police indicated Wednesday night they had questions about a woman’s claim that she was shot during a carjacking in west Denver Wednesday morning.
By late Wednesday night, they say she was not telling them any information about the suspects or even where the alleged crime happened.
It was a much different story 18 hours earlier.
As of 5 a.m., police were looking at three crime scenes, Denver Health, the 400 block of Knox Court and the 3500 block of West 13th avenue.
Details were limited Wednesday morning, but police did say the stolen car was last seen on 13th and Knox. Where exactly the carjacking and shooting took place was still unclear.
It was clear, however, that he owner of the stolen car — a woman — was injured in the shooting. She was taken to Denver Health in unknown, but stable condition.
After tending to the victim, the focus of the investigation Wednesday morning turned to locating the suspects. Earlier this morning, FOX31 Denver camera crews were on the scene to see officers going door to door in the 400 block of Knox Court.
With very little information, police said they were looking for witnesses, asking neighbors if they heard or saw anything.
One woman we spoke to off-camera says she heard honking and a person screaming around 1 a.m. And when she looked outside her window, she saw a car speed off.
The stolen car was a 2006 dark blue Impala with tinted windows, police said.
As of later Wednesday morning, details about the suspects are vague. Police would only say they are possibly looking for 2 Hispanic males in that dark blue impala.
