SLIDESHOW: Boulder sex offender was hoarding stolen objects, police say

BOULDER, Colo. — A sex offender who escaped from police appears to have been hoarding other people’s possessions in his home at a transient camp, the Boulder Police Department reported Thursday.

Eugene Martinez, who was recaptured earlier this month after he escaped from Denver police and allegedly committed two additional sex assaults, likely stole various items he was keeping at the camp, Kim Kobel of BPD said. The items include jewelry, sheet music, underwear, electronics and a bicycle.

Many of the items do not belong to Martinez’s known victims, leading police to believe he may have committed crimes that have not yet been reported.

Anyone with information about these items, or anyone who believes they may have been a victim of this suspect, was asked to call police at 303-441-1890.
