DENVER — Shortly after news broke that student Claire Davis had been critically wounded in the shooting at Arapahoe High School last week, thousands of internet supporters began calling for One Direction to come visit her.
On Thursday, the band agreed — at least electronically.
Responding to the Twitter campaign “Get1Dto Claire,” the English-Irish boy band released a brief YouTube video giving Claire their best wishes.
Davis, 17, suffered a severe head wound in the shooting. She remained unconscious, in stable but critical condition as of Wednesday, her family said.
One Direction’s video marked the latest stage in an outpouring of support for Claire Davis.
Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper has visited the Davis family at Littleton Adventist Hospital at least twice, a spokesman said.
Meanwhile, participants in an Interscholastic Equestrian Association horse show in Sedalia showed their support with purple ribbons and other items on Sunday. Davis is a member of the youth equestrian sports group, a member said.
Numerous vigils, rallies and prayer gatherings around Centennial and the rest of the metro area have also been held.
