Shoppers take advantage of post-Christmas sales

DENVER — For many, the day after Christmas was like holiday shopping all over again. Many including four-year-old Rosie found things that they just had to buy.

“My Little Pony Flutter Shy,” said Rosie Glazier, shopping with her mother Thursday.

And with many toys, clothes and other items marked half off, it wasn’t just the kids enjoying another day of gifts, but many moms also seemed to be taking advantage of the deals

“I kind of save up all my shopping for the day after because there is such amazing sales. We got 75% off already marked down stuff,” said Deborah Svedlow, who loves shopping after Christmas.

Svedlow brought her three daughters with her to the Cherry Creek Mall in what she calls the day-after-Christmas family tradition in finding the cheapest prices.

“I found some great deals. Hit up some of the beauty stores got some Mac some Sephora. It’s been a good day,” said Hannah Svedlow, Deborah’s daughter.

Meanwhile, Nikki Maloney couldn’t pass up the deal on some pots from Macy’s.

“So, that’s usually like a $130 and I got it for $70,” said Nikki Maloney, shopping at Cherry Creek Mall.

Besides the deals, according to many retailers, the day after Christmas is also the single most popular day to use gift cards.

“Yesterday on Christmas from my dad I got a $50 Target gift card and from my grandpa I got a $250 gift card,” said Wyatt Muncy, who went shopping with his grandma.

Both Wyatt and his sister loved shopping with their gift cards because they said they’re able to get what they want at the Glendale Target.

“So far with my $50 I got this spy gun laser thing,” Muncy said.

And while many enjoyed the day shopping with family, retailers hope all of these sales give a boost to the last of the holiday shopping in 2013.

If you didn’t get out to fight the mall traffic on Thursday, many stores offered the same deals online, but only for a limited time.
