DENVER – A group of runaway teens believed to have stolen two cars in their flight across the middle of the country were finally captured on Saturday.

Police in Raton, N.M., arrested Breanna Gomez, 15, along with her 16-year-old boyfriend and two other teen boys after a short chase, the Weld County Sheriff’s Office said. Details of the capture are expected to be released later.

The runaways made headlines this week after Gomez ran from her home in Eau Claire, Wis., on Monday night. The group was then spotted in Colorado’s Morgan and Logan counties in a stolen car on Thursday, Weld County Sheriff John B. Cooke said

The teens escaped from police near Keenesburg and later ditched the vehicle near Roggen, police said.

Gomez, who is diabetic, apparently forgot her insulin inside the stolen vehicle, prompting concerns that the teen could suffer dangerous seizures.

The teens then allegedly stole a second car, a light blue Chrysler Town & Country minivan with Colorado license plate 876-WZS. Police believed they were trying to make it to Riverside, Calif.
