Players juggle family demands while prepping for playoffs

DENVER — From fiery Philip Rivers to Knowshon Moreno’s tears… there will be plenty of passion on Sunday.

Knowshon says he always plays “juiced to the top.”

And there’s no question Broncos country is buzzing.

“It’s definitely different from last year, given how we finished, we know this is not a give me game,” says Mitch Unrein.

And just like those diehard fans, players’ family and friends are jacked up as well.

Champ Bailey says, “They get more excited than I do.”

Defensive Tackle Terrance Knighton 6’3’” 335 pounds, but mom is the real enforcer.

“She doesn’t mind being the bad guy. I don’t have to worry about it.”

For Mitch Unrein, who grew up outside of Greeley, Colorado, the ticket requests can be overwhelming … which is why mom manages the madness.

“She gets the list, she takes care of everything.”

Not everyone gets into the football frenzy, but more often than not the Broncos’ extended family is ready to roll.

Bailey says, “Now I got my brothers who used to play, they’re excited.”

The Broncos and Chargers kickoff Sunday at 2:40pm.
