DENVER — Colorado Rockies’ Carlos Gonzalez had his appendix removed Friday night at a Denver hospital, according to the team’s official Twitter account.

The emergency surgery came after the outfielder reported severe stomach pain.

His team tweeted that he is now recovering at the hospital. No complications were reported.

Gonzalez has six weeks to heal before spring training begins in Arizona.
