Blinged-up Broncos gear is specialty of woman who is part of team’s family
DENVER — The Broncos have one of the most marketable logos in the NFL. But it’s even more eye-catching when it’s “blinged out.”
That’s exactly how business got rolling for an Olympian turned entrepreneur who is part of the Broncos family.
Fans love to show off their Broncos style, from the bold, to the basic and then there’s the blingy.
Corey Cogdell spends a lot of time, 5-6 hours on one jersey, adding her own touch. Gluing on Swarovski crystals, or adding custom fabric to the numbers on the jersey.
“I’m actually starting to do guys’ jerseys with camo,” she says.
It all started when Corey bought her own jazzed-up jersey and was not impressed.
“It was extremely expensive and I was disappointed in the quality of it.”
So Corey got crafty.
“I started buying rhinestones online, trying out different materials, which glue worked best, then washing them and testing.”
Her hobby has quickly become a business: CustomTeamBling.com
“So many people coming up to me asking where did I get my jersey? I’d say, ‘Actually I make them’ and eventually thought ‘why don’t I just do this as a business.’”
It’s no coincidence Corey loves the Broncos. She is defensive tackle Mitch Unrein’s fiancée.
“She’s a go getter, a really motivated woman and that’s what I love about her. She’s always trying more and more things,” says Mitch.
Corey adds, “I’ve always loved doing crafty stuff. I grew up doing this stuff, but got out of it when I got into competitive shooting.”
Corey is also an Olympic trap shooter. She won a bronze medal in Beijing but hopes to get a lot of bucks for her bling.
“Eventually when I give up shooting, this is what I’d like to when I stay at home with my kids. Be able to be a mom but still have something that’s my own.”
Until then you can find her at the game, she’s the sassy one with all the sparkles.
“I love that I can represent Mitch and support the Broncos.”
